Abstract
Amidst growing concerns for providing women adequate medical options India, the oft debated “Pro life or Pro choice†decision worldover becomes more and more relevent. This is more important for especially when the women who are victims of abuse, are carrying an abnormal fetus or are minors and need the decision of their guardian. The medical termination of pregnancy Act 1971, was amended mutilple times initially in 2002, 2003 and now and then more recently in 2014 to accomodate the changing needs. But more changes are needed to empower women to make this their ‘choice’ rather than the choice of the medical doctor who will finally perform the procedure.
